Our new electric bikes take the strain and make us feel 21 again! Available to hire for both our guests and the local community for the perfect day out in Rutland
With thanks to Discover Rutland, we are now part of the Rutland E-Bike scheme, so we can now offer the hire of a medium or a large Specialized Como e-bike. They are superb pieces of engineering and really very easy to ride. The step-through design means no heaving legs over a crossbar; just hop on to the seat and away you go. With a belt drive and up to 75 miles of range, they are just the ticket for getting closer to nature while you explore the delights of the county. They make the cycle to and round Rutland Water from Ayston totally within reach. You do still need to pedal to get the power out of them; the more you pedal, the further they will go for you on the battery.
If you would like to hire one or both, you can book them by emailing bookings@castlechase.co.uk The hire charge is £50 per day (9:00-17:00) or £100 per bike for a 3-day block of your stay; payment can be in advance or upon collection. We will be in touch to speak to you about this before your booking.

On The Farm
We have just about finished calving and are now getting into lambing our own flock. The dry weather, whilst painful for the crops and slowing grass growth, is perfect for lambing, calving, and getting the hens back into the paddock and onto pasture. We sent yearling cattle to Melton Market over the last couple of weeks; with a shortage of beef cattle across the country due to a drop in suckler herd numbers, they met strong demand from other farmers who will use some for breeding and finish some for meat.
